Zimbabwe has revamped its electronic visa (eVisa) portal, allowing travelers from 118 countries and territories to apply for an eVisa before embarking on their journey. This updated system, aimed at making entry into the country easier for both tourists and business visitors, marks a significant improvement in Zimbabwe’s travel infrastructure, reports VisaGuide.World.

Previously, nationals from these countries, including those from Europe and North America, were required to obtain a visa upon arrival without the option of applying in advance. Now, with the new eVisa process, eligible travelers can streamline their plans by securing their visa online before arrival.

Zimbabwe’s Visa Categories Explained

Zimbabwe’s visa system is divided into three distinct categories based on nationality:

Category A: Citizens from these countries do not need a visa to enter Zimbabwe. They can complete an online declaration before traveling.

Category B: While a visa is not required before departure, travelers in this category must pay for and acquire one upon arrival. They can also submit an online declaration beforehand to expedite the process.

Category C: Visitors must apply for and secure a visa prior to their trip, paying the necessary fees before arrival.

Visa Validity and Types

The validity of a Zimbabwe visa depends on its type:

Tourist visas: Valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

Visit and business visas: Generally valid for 30 days.

Visa on arrival: Duration is specified at the port of entry.

Travelers staying beyond 30 days or visiting for work or study must apply for a visa through a Zimbabwean embassy under the eVisa program. Additionally, all travelers over 45 years old must obtain a visa regardless of the purpose or duration of their visit.

Countries Exempt from Visa Requirements

Citizens from several countries can visit Zimbabwe without a visa, including:

Angola

Bahamas

Barbados

Botswana

Democratic Republic of the Congo

Ghana

Jamaica

Kenya

Lesotho

Malaysia

Mauritius

Mozambique

Namibia

eVisa Options and Fees

Zimbabwe’s enhanced eVisa system now offers four types of electronic visas on arrival:

Single Entry eVisa (1 month): US$30.00

Double Entry eVisa (3 months): US$45.00

KAZA Univisa (1 month, valid for Zimbabwe and Zambia): US$65.00

Entry Without Visa: Free of charge

The KAZA Univisa, introduced in 2014, allows tourists to travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia for up to 30 days, making it a convenient option for those exploring both countries.

With this updated eVisa system, Zimbabwe is poised to attract more international visitors, offering a smoother and more efficient entry process for travelers worldwide.
