A delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MOCST), led by Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, recently held discussions with leaders from the Los Angeles City Government in California. This meeting was part of the broader Vietnam Tourism and Cinema Promotion Program in the United States.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister emphasized Los Angeles’ status as a global hub for tourism and entertainment, noting its significant collaborations with various Vietnamese ministries and regions.
Highlighting the potential for further collaboration in tourism and film, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong encouraged the Los Angeles City Government to strengthen ties with Vietnam, particularly in areas overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Los Angeles, with its extensive experience in developing cultural industries and the film economy, could support Vietnam’s efforts, especially the Vietnam Creative Cities Network Project under UNESCO’s Creative Cities framework. A priority will be assisting Ho Chi Minh City in preparing its application to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the cinema category, expected to be submitted in 2025.
Additionally, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong announced plans for 2025, during which Hollywood studios will be invited to explore Vietnam as a destination for filming and tourism.
