United Airlines is enhancing its international network with a new direct route between Tokyo, Japan, and Koror, Palau, slated to begin in October 2025. This new addition will reinforce United’s position as the largest and only U.S. carrier serving Palau, marking a significant expansion for the airline into the Pacific region.

Nonstop Service Connecting Tokyo and Palau

Starting October 29, 2025, the new year-round service from Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Koror will operate twice a week. This will provide a seamless, nonstop connection between Japan and the remote island of Koror, located in the Western Pacific. The addition of this route is set to bolster United’s existing network in Asia, making it easier for travelers to reach one of the most isolated island destinations in the world.

United Airlines will utilize its Boeing 737-800 aircraft on this route, ensuring comfort and efficiency for passengers. The aircraft will also serve as a connection point for travelers, linking them to five major U.S. cities through United’s transpacific routes. The service will significantly streamline travel to Koror, which currently sees limited air access, as no other airline offers direct flights to the island from Tokyo.

United’s Exclusive Service to Palau

With the introduction of this direct flight, United Airlines will solidify its unique position in Palau, a small island nation with limited connectivity to the outside world. The new Tokyo-to-Koror route joins United’s existing services linking Palau to Manila and Guam, providing travelers with more flexibility when planning trips to the region. United’s expanded service is a major milestone, as no other carrier currently operates nonstop flights to Koror from Tokyo.

For now, travelers wishing to fly from Tokyo to Koror must book connecting flights. For example, one airline offers services via Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) with a fleet of Airbus A321neos. Starting in November 2025, the airline will increase its frequency on this route to four times per week. Other international carriers, including Nauru Airlines and Qantas, also offer flights to Koror but on a much less frequent basis, using Boeing 737 aircraft.

The introduction of nonstop flights from Tokyo to Koror will make United Airlines the exclusive carrier offering this direct service, enhancing access to this stunning island destination for both tourists and business travelers.

United Airlines’ Expansion in the Asia-Pacific Region

This new Tokyo-Koror route is part of United Airlines’ ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence across the Asia-Pacific region. Recently, the airline began operating three weekly flights from Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Ulaanbaatar (UBN), Mongolia, becoming the first U.S. carrier to serve this route. Additionally, United is preparing to launch flights to Kaohsiung, Taiwan (KHH), which will further broaden its network in the region. This route will complement the airline’s existing twice-daily service between San Francisco (SFO) and Taipei (TPE), offering passengers even more travel options to Asia.

United is also increasing its Southeast Asian network, with plans to add fifth freedom flights from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Bangkok (BKK) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) starting in October 2025. These new services will make United the only U.S. carrier providing daily flights to both of these popular Southeast Asian destinations, enhancing its presence in the region.

Strengthening Global Connectivity

United Airlines’ recent expansion across the Asia-Pacific region illustrates its commitment to increasing travel options for passengers across both leisure and business sectors. With new direct routes to destinations like Palau, Mongolia, and Taiwan, United is poised to strengthen its leadership in transpacific travel.

The addition of nonstop service between Tokyo and Koror, combined with the airline’s other recent route expansions, demonstrates United Airlines’ continued efforts to grow its global reach and provide enhanced connectivity to some of the most desirable destinations worldwide.
