IHG expands in the UK and Ireland with eight new hotels, adding over 900 rooms in prime locations like Leeds, London, and Reading to bolster its portfolio.

IHG has bolstered its UK and Ireland operations by securing agreements for eight new hotels, enhancing its regional footprint with over 900 additional rooms in strategic locations such as Leeds, London, and Reading.

These new hotels represent a mix of IHG’s brand portfolio, including the luxurious Hotel Indigo, the upscale Crowne Plaza, and the recently launched Garner Hotels.

This growth initiative underscores IHG’s continued commitment to expanding its presence in the UK and Ireland, where it now operates 362 hotels and has 25 more in the pipeline.

Diverse Brand Expansion
The latest hotel agreements will augment IHG’s varied collection of brands, which now includes Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, and Garner Hotels. Garner Hotels, introduced 18 months ago, is marking its entry into the UK and Ireland with new properties in Preston Samlesbury, Reading, and Nottingham.

These hotels aim to offer guests a variety of contemporary, elegant, and budget-friendly lodging options.

A highlight of the new properties is Hotel Indigo Leeds, scheduled to open in 2025 after extensive renovations. It will be housed in one of Leeds’ oldest buildings, offering a prime location and stylish accommodations.

Additionally, the voco brand will expand with new openings in London – Marylebone and Corby, both set to provide modern facilities and comforts.

Conversion Drives Expansion
IHG’s growth has been significantly supported by converting existing properties into branded hotels, including notable projects like the Crowne Plaza East Midlands Airport and Garner Hotels in Preston and Reading.

This strategic move is in response to a slowdown in new hotel constructions since 2020, according to a Cushman & Wakefield report, which also noted a resurgence in UK hotel investments by late 2024.

The continued popularity of established IHG brands, such as Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express, reflects a strong market demand for quality, sustainable accommodation.

For instance, the Holiday Inn Express London – Woolwich will transform a five-story office building into a 265-room hotel by late 2029, catering to guests in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Future Outlook for Growth
With 362 operational hotels and more in development, IHG is focusing on sustainable growth in its largest European market, the UK and Ireland.

The recent signings reinforce IHG’s robust position in the region and its dedication to adapting to the changing needs of travelers and property owners.

As IHG continues to innovate and extend its brand portfolio, it is poised for enduring success in the UK and Ireland.
