The Algonquin Hotel, Autograph Collection, is celebrating the return of its legendary Round Table after a six-month restoration. For over a century, this iconic table has been a gathering place for some of the most influential literary and cultural figures, including Dorothy Parker, Franklin Adams, Robert Benchley, Edna Ferber, and more. The Round Table has long been at the heart of The Algonquin, where members of “The Vicious Circle” – a group of New York City writers, critics, and tastemakers – engaged in sharp wit, lively conversation, and intellectual exchange.
Since 1919, the Round Table has been a touchstone for creativity and social discourse. The newly refurbished table will once again host modern-day thought leaders, artists, and influencers who will continue the tradition of sparking cultural conversations and elevating diverse voices.
A New Era of Cultural Conversations
This fall, the Round Table will serve as a forum for contemporary thought leaders, including:
- The Rap Dad’s Show: Hosted by music producer Esteban Serrano and executive producer Sway Calloway, this podcast series explores the intersection of hip-hop and fatherhood, with discussions that aim to reshape the narrative around Black fathers.
- Soberness with Cat Greenleaf: Cat Greenleaf, host of the popular television talk show Talk Stoop, will bring her unique interviewing style to conversations with celebrities who have experienced their own sober journeys. Guests like Hillary Sheinbaum, Tim Daly, and Moby will share insights into their recovery and the impact of sobriety on their lives.
- Mics of the Round Table: A dynamic series bringing together rappers, songwriters, authors, and other artists to discuss their impact on society and the cultural messages they convey. These conversations will explore the creative processes behind their work and the larger narratives they shape, continuing the Round Table’s legacy as a space for shaping cultural discourse.
- Tarot and Energy Readings with Cardsy B: Celebrity energy healer and tarot card reader Cardsy B will offer intuitive readings, energy healing, and numerology sessions for guests. Known for her work with tastemakers, Cardsy B will help guests navigate their fall with personalized insights and guidance.
A Celebration of Fearless Women
The reopening of the Round Table kicked off with a special event, “Celebrating Fearless Women: A Return to the Round Table.” In partnership with Literati Spirits, a vodka brand for book lovers, this panel was moderated by Brisa Carleton, Founder and CEO of Literati Spirits. The panel featured an all-female lineup paying tribute to The Algonquin’s legacy of elevating female literary voices, a tradition that began with its original muse, Dorothy Parker.
Literati Spirits will return in October with another round of conversations, including discussions with Glynnis MacNichol, author of I’m Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself, and Mattie Jo Cowsert, author of God, Sex, and Rich People.
The Algonquin Hotel’s Round Table continues to be a symbol of intellectual engagement and cultural exchange. As it enters this new chapter, it remains a beacon for creative minds and an enduring space where ideas, art, and conversation thrive.
