
Tata Sons (Tata) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have celebrated the successful merger of Air India and Vistara, marking a historic milestone in their partnership.
The symbolic ceremony, held at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, heralded a new era for Indian aviation, bringing together leaders from Tata, SIA, Air India, and Vistara, including Mr. Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, and Mr. Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines.
The merger consolidates the four airlines under the Air India Group into two core entities: one full-service airline and one low-cost carrier.
This initiative is a cornerstone of the five-year Vihaan.AI transformation program, designed to enhance operational capabilities, broaden the customer base, and elevate service standards and the overall travel experience.
Post-merger, the Air India Group boasts:
- A combined fleet of 300 aircraft.
- Service to 55 domestic and 48 international destinations.
- A network spanning 312 routes with 8,300 weekly flights.
- Extended connectivity to over 800 global destinations through 75+ codeshare and interline partners.
- A workforce exceeding 30,000 employees.
Mr. Chandrasekaran highlighted the significance of the merger:
