Spain's
Cruz de la Salceda

Spain’s Santa Cruz de la Salceda will soon unveil the groundbreaking Museum of Smells, offering a mesmerizing sensory journey with over 90 unique aromas.

This charming village is about to welcome an extraordinary museum, unlike any other.

Santa Cruz de la Salceda, with its population of just 140 residents, is a peaceful, small village tucked away in Spain. Soon, however, it will be the location of the Museum of Smells, a place where visitors can experience over 90 distinct aromas. From the earthy fragrance of truffles and cedar to the inviting scents of spices, oils, and even a delicious stew, the museum promises a truly unique sensory adventure. It will also showcase a variety of scents, including perfumes, food-related smells, and nostalgic aromas such as talcum powder.

This museum offers a special contribution to society, particularly in helping individuals sharpen their sense of smell, an ability many struggled to retain after the pandemic. The fragrances within the museum will be grouped into categories, such as those with healing properties or those that provoke illness. Other sections will feature aromas tied to danger, wines, coffees, and oils.

Spanish researchers, including two experts from The Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology, have played a key role in making this project a reality. Their involvement has helped shape the museum’s creation.

If you’re planning a visit, note that the tours will be guided, with a maximum of 25 people per group. It’s highly recommended to reserve your spot in advance.

Located in the beautiful Burgos region, this village is a hidden gem, perfect for travelers seeking to escape crowded tourist spots. While you’re in the area, make sure to visit the stunning Burgos Cathedral, a must-see attraction.
