Switzerland’s Smartflyer, an innovative electric aircraft manufacturer, has forged a significant partnership with FlyOnE Sustainable Aviation, a prominent player in the electric aviation sector in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This collaboration is marked by a letter of intent for the acquisition of 30 Smartflyer SF1 aircraft, heralding a pivotal advancement in sustainable aviation for Australia and beyond.

This announcement follows FlyOnE’s successful retail investment campaign on the CSF platform Birchal, where it raised substantial funds at a share price of $3.00, resulting in a market capitalization of AUD$57 million.

FlyOnE has emerged as a trailblazer in the electric aviation market, having conducted over 1,700 electric passenger movements and completed 1,000 electric flights with its expanding fleet. The company’s dedication to minimizing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable travel aligns seamlessly with Smartflyer’s ambition to transform the aviation landscape through versatile electric aircraft designed for passenger transport, logistics, private use, and pilot training.

The Smartflyer SF1 is engineered for fully electric passenger and cargo operations, featuring range-extending options that allow for distances of up to 800 kilometers or five hours of flight time. Its mission-tailored powertrain configurations include an interchangeable energy module, allowing for quick connections to hybrid SAF range extensions in under 15 minutes, as well as a hydrogen fuel cell variant. These features cater to emissions-free targets for short-range missions while accommodating Australia’s unique longer-range needs, enabling access to remote areas where charging infrastructure may be limited.

FlyOnE has already initiated the establishment of Australia’s electric aircraft charging network, with five active sites across two states and over 40 additional vertiport and runway locations planned, all designed to integrate renewable energy capture and storage to meet the rising demand for electric aviation services in the sun-soaked continent.

The partnership between Smartflyer and FlyOnE underscores the growing interest in sustainable aviation solutions within the APAC region and the expansion of the low-altitude economy. As climate change concerns mount, the push for environmentally friendly transportation options is intensifying, leading to increased demand for electric aircraft. This alliance between two industry leaders is poised to accelerate advancements in electric aviation technology and foster a greener, more sustainable future for global air travel.

Rolf Stuber, CEO of Smartflyer, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with FlyOnE, a company that shares our vision for a more sustainable aviation industry. This partnership will not only enhance our companies but also contribute to global efforts in reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly travel.” The 30 Smartflyer SF1 aircraft will be utilized for both commercial and private flights, integrating seamlessly into FlyOnE’s existing operations in Australia and supporting the expansion of its international business across the broader APAC region.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in the advancement and reach of electric aviation in Australia and beyond. With their combined expertise and commitment to sustainability, Smartflyer and FlyOnE are set to transform air transport and the low-altitude economy in the APAC region.
