SITA, a global leader in air transport technology, has partnered with Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to transform its passenger processing capabilities. TPE will implement SITA’s innovative check-in kiosk solutions, enabling passengers to move through the airport and reach their destinations faster than ever. These advanced kiosks modernize the check-in process, turning it into a cutting-edge element of the airport experience.

This long-term agreement, running until 2033, underscores SITA’s dedication to enhancing airport IT infrastructure and delivering superior passenger experiences. The scalable and efficient systems provided by SITA align with the evolving needs of modern airports. With these new check-in and baggage handling technologies, TPE aims to minimize wait times and boost overall operational efficiency.

As part of this collaboration, TPE will deploy SITA’s Local Departure Control System (LDCS), Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), and Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) systems. This includes a comprehensive upgrade of 80 check-in kiosks across Terminals 1 and 2 to support all international flights.

The adoption of SITA’s advanced solutions comes at a critical time for Taiwan’s aviation sector. With global passenger numbers projected to double to 10 billion by 2040, TPE is positioning itself to meet growing demand while maintaining top-notch security standards and optimizing airport operations.

Sumesh Patel, SITA APAC President, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating: “Our focus at SITA is to deliver technology solutions that help airport operators better manage their infrastructure in a way that is both optimal and makes the journey smoother for passengers. Airports around the world are facing challenges on many fronts, from staffing to efficiency, and improving the overall passenger experience. Taipei can become a pioneer in the Asian market in terms of digitalization and innovation, becoming an example for others in an ever-evolving travel industry.

Nelson Wang, Taipei Airport Operation Committee Chairman, expressed his confidence in SITA’s solutions. He said: “As part of our improvement program, the smart use of technology will maximize our existing infrastructure, and provide our passengers with a world-class experience, while supporting our airline customers in managing their operations more efficiently. SITA’s CUSS and CUTE systems are key to meeting our ambitions – from managing the flow of passengers through our terminals to making all of our passengers’ journeys smoother and more efficient.”

SITA has proudly partnered with Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) for over 30 years, fostering a strong and trusted relationship. As this collaboration continues, SITA remains committed to delivering cutting-edge innovations and excellence in airport and airline technology, ensuring lasting success for years to come.
