Singapore tourism

Singapore’s tourism spending in 2024 is projected to surpass $29 billion, breaking the pre-pandemic record of $27.7 billion in 2019, according to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

This milestone reflects the nation’s strong visitor recovery, strategic air connectivity, and a packed calendar of world-class entertainment and business events.

As per the Singapore Government’s official tourism website, international visitor arrivals rose 21% to 16.5 million in 2024, with China (3.08M), Indonesia (2.49M), and India (1.2M) emerging as the top three source markets. Changi Airport also saw a 99.1% recovery of its pre-pandemic passenger traffic.

Entertainment, Attractions & MICE Fuel Growth

Singapore’s booming tourism receipts were driven by a 25% increase in sightseeing, entertainment, and gaming.

Mega concerts by Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift boosted spending, alongside landmark attractions like:

Disney & Pixar Topiaries at Gardens by the Bay

Sensoryscape at Sentosa

The World of Studio Ghibli at Marina Bay Sands

Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2024

Additionally, business tourism thrived, with major first-time events such as the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Summit 2024 and the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference 2024 hosted in Singapore.

Hotels, Cruise & Infrastructure Expansion

New hotels like The Standard, Singapore and Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre added 1,421 rooms to the city’s accommodation options, while cruise tourism welcomed 1.8 million passengers from 340 ship calls, featuring new ships like Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas.

Bullish Outlook for 2025

STB projects 17M–18.5M visitors and $30.5B in tourism receipts in 2025, with upcoming attractions like:

Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore (Feb 2025)

Singapore Oceanarium (H1 2025)

Rainforest Wild Asia at Mandai (March 2025)

Disney Adventure Cruise (December 2025)

With a robust event lineup, expanded attractions, and strong international connectivity, Singapore remains poised for record-breaking tourism growth in the years ahead.
