A tragic incident has caused severe disruption on Greater Anglia train services after a person was struck by a train on the line between Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport.
The incident occurred early this morning, around 7 a.m., between Cheshunt and Tottenham Hale, leading to significant delays and cancellations affecting Essex commuters.
Greater Anglia has confirmed that the line remains closed between the two stations as emergency services and Network Rail respond to the situation.
No timeframe has been provided for when the line will reopen.
The disruption has impacted multiple routes, including the Stansted Express service between Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street.
Additional routes affected include Bishops Stortford to Stratford, Cambridge North to Liverpool Street, Hertford East to Liverpool Street, and Meridian Water to Stratford.
In a statement, Greater Anglia said, “Regretfully, a person has been hit by a train between Cheshunt and Tottenham Hale.
Trains will not be able to run between these stations.
We are supporting Network Rail and the emergency services to re-open the line as soon as possible but currently do not have a time-frame for this.”
Passengers are advised to check for updates and consider alternative travel arrangements while the incident is being resolved.
