The 2025 Hajj preparations are gaining momentum as Saudi Arabian authorities prepare to begin issuing Hajj visas to pilgrims on February 19, 2025. This critical step marks the commencement of full-scale operations for this year’s pilgrimage.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has been actively engaging with private Hajj operators to stay informed about developments and ensure seamless coordination for the journey. These engagements are part of a comprehensive strategy involving various stakeholders to streamline pre-Hajj arrangements during official visits to the holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
In a key milestone, NAHCON’s chairman recently formalized Nigeria’s participation in the pilgrimage by signing the 2025 Hajj Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This agreement underscores Nigeria’s commitment to complying with the regulatory framework governing the pilgrimage.
As part of the operational planning, NAHCON completed the selection process for airlines responsible for transporting Nigerian pilgrims. Out of 11 applicants, the commission approved Air Peace Limited, Fly-Nas, Max Air, and UMZA Aviation Services Limited to handle the airlift of Muslim pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj.
These developments highlight the meticulous planning and collaboration required to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling experience for all intending pilgrims. With visa issuance starting soon, preparations are set to transition into the operational phase, ensuring a successful pilgrimage season.
