SATA Group companies have earned the prestigious Silver Medal in the EcoVadis Index, which evaluates companies on key performance areas such as environmental impact, human rights and labor practices, ethics, and supplier responsibility.
This accolade reflects SATA Group’s unwavering dedication to sustainability and social responsibility, showcasing their ongoing efforts to uphold high standards in these critical areas.
The SATA Group is driving over thirty initiatives annually to enhance ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) metrics across its three core companies. One standout achievement is the pioneering effort by SATA’s airlines to secure IEnvA Certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), becoming the first in Portugal to be recognized for environmental sustainability by this program. Additionally, the group achieved two other notable certifications: the IWT (Illegal Wildlife Trade Certificate), aimed at combatting illegal wildlife trafficking, and the Quality certification for SATA’s ICOP Program, which focuses on voluntary carbon emissions compensation, a program to which over 8,000 passengers have contributed.
On the social front, 12 internal initiatives were developed, benefitting both employees and the local community. These projects included food, clothing, and toy drives, coastal cleanup initiatives in collaboration with local entities, and transportation support for numerous cultural, sporting, and educational activities within the Azores Archipelago. Furthermore, the “SATA Saudável” program, aimed at fostering both physical and mental well-being among employees, highlights the company’s commitment to health and wellness, particularly in mental health prevention and intervention.
To continue pushing the boundaries of sustainable development, the SATA Group also implemented eight major projects focused on enhancing future ESG management. These initiatives align closely with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, principles embraced by companies that prioritize the balanced development of the regions in which they operate.
