Professor Green and Holiday Inn Express Hotels unveil the Restful Rhythms playlist, blending ASMR and soothing sounds to promote deep, restorative sleep.

On 15 November 2024, the final supermoon of the year coincides with new findings from Holiday Inn Express, revealing that 29% of Britons believe the moon’s phases influence their sleep quality. Additionally, 62% report that poor sleep leaves them feeling drained and downcast.

In response, more than half (53%) of Brits are turning to the calming effects of ASMR to help them relax. To enhance this experience, musician and mental wellness advocate Professor Green has teamed up with Holiday Inn Express to create Professor Green’s Restful Rhythms, a soothing playlist now available for streaming worldwide, just in time for the supermoon.

John Wright, Vice President Mainstream Brands, EMEAA, commented: “At Holiday Inn Express hotels we want our guests to have a great overnight recharge whenever they stay. With quality bedding, a choice of firm or soft pillows, blackout blinds, power showers and a hot breakfast – Holiday Inn Express helps guests wake up ready for the day. That’s why this new collaboration with Professor Green and Dr Faye Begeti to launch ASMR playlist ‘Restful Rhythms’ is perfect as it offers another way for guests to get a great night’s sleep.”

Professor Green’s Restful Rhythms, developed in collaboration with neuroscientist and sleep expert Dr. Faye Begeti, MB PhD, is scientifically designed to foster a peaceful night’s rest. This specially curated playlist combines ASMR with binaural beats and features five tracks, each inspired by the everyday sounds of a Holiday Inn Express hotel, including the comforting sizzle of bacon, the drip of coffee, the rustle of sheets, and more. Every track is recorded live at a Holiday Inn Express, with soothing spoken word from Professor Green to further enhance relaxation. The tracks include:

Grateful: As the hustle of the city fades, the hotel door gently closes behind, followed by the soft echoes of quiet footsteps and the subtle click of a keycard, creating an atmosphere of calm that lingers after the day’s activities.

Back Where It All Began: The comforting sounds of sizzling bacon, an electric toothbrush, and fresh coffee transport us to a peaceful morning, evoking the joy of a fresh start to the day.

All In Good Time: The delicate clink of cutlery, the smooth roll of a suitcase across the carpet, and the hum of a microwave offer a nostalgic reminder of the calm moments that unfold through midday.

Weaving Dreams: The gentle sounds of boiling water for tea and the soft closing of curtains bring the peacefulness of an early evening, inviting restfulness.

The Silence Between: With the flick of a light switch, the distant rumble of streets, and the hum of an air conditioner, paired with Professor Green’s calming breath patterns, this track sets the scene for deep, restorative sleep as the night unfolds.

“As a musician and father, I know how challenging it can be to get a good night’s sleep and how much it affects the following day,” said Stephen Manderson (Professor Green). “Especially when I’m on tour, music and a comfortable hotel bed are essential so I can relax and unwind at night. That’s why I couldn’t be more excited to create this playlist and bring it to people nationwide, helping them to get a better sleep this supermoon and beyond.”

The survey also revealed that 39% of Britons take between 31 minutes and 2 hours to fully unwind before going to bed. Additionally, 88% admitted to using electronic devices within an hour or less before bedtime, a habit known to interfere with sleep quality.

“Sleep is crucial for our mental and physical well-being,” said Dr Faye Begeti, MB PhD. “This new soundtrack by Professor Green and Holiday Inn Express hotels takes familiar sounds and turns them into ASMR auditory stimuli. Research shows that ASMR activates regions in the brain linked to relaxation and pleasure, helping to lower heart rate and ease the body into a restful state. Binaural beats have been added which gently guide the brain into specific relaxation states, promoting calm and reducing anxiety.

Blending these techniques, and their brain-friendly benefits, has the potential to provide a powerful relaxation tool. When used consistently as part of an evening routine, this new soundtrack can help the brain unwind, improving sleep quality and duration. Developing familiarity with these sounds at home can be especially valuable while traveling as it will reinforce comfort and relaxation, supporting restful sleep wherever you are.”

Professor Green’s Restful Rhythms, created in partnership with Holiday Inn Express hotels, is now available for streaming worldwide on Spotify.
