Pan Pacific Orchard in Singapore, designed by Woha Architects, wins world’s best new skyscraper, blending luxury with eco-friendly innovations and lush greenery.

Singapore’s Pan Pacific Orchard hotel has been named the world’s top new skyscraper by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). Standing 23 storeys tall and measuring 140 meters, the hotel is nestled in Singapore’s vibrant shopping hub and officially opened its doors in June 2023. Since then, it has garnered international attention.

Designed by the renowned Woha Architects, the hotel has secured additional accolades, including “Best Tall Building” in the 100m-199m category, along with three other prestigious awards. The CTBUH, a leading global authority on tall structures, presented these honors during its recent conference held from September 23-27 in both London and Paris.

Pan Pacific Orchard stands out for its commitment to eco-conscious architecture. Its design incorporates solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system for irrigation, and an on-site biodigester to process food waste. Embracing Singapore’s dedication to sustainability, the hotel is enveloped by lush greenery, with towering trees, gardens, and pools enhancing the guest experience. Impressively, it boasts a green plot ratio of over 300%, meaning the landscaped areas exceed its footprint by more than threefold.

The hotel is designed around four themed environments: Forest Terrace, Beach Terrace, Garden Terrace, and Cloud Terrace. Each zone offers a distinct experience, from a soaring tree-lined lobby to a sandy beachfront and serene pools. The Cloud Terrace is home to a pillarless ballroom, one of the highest in Singapore, making it an ideal setting for upscale events.

This achievement further solidifies Woha Architects’ reputation, adding to their previous recognitions for projects like Kampung Admiralty and Oasia Hotel Downtown. The Pan Pacific Orchard hotel also earned Singapore’s Green Mark Platinum certification—the highest environmental accolade—in 2020.

At the same CTBUH event, other skyscrapers in Asia were honored as well. Malaysia’s Petronas Towers took home the Global Icon award, while China’s Greenland Hangzhou Century Centre was named the best tall building in Asia.
