Antalya's Ormana Village

Ormana village, nestled in the Ibradı district of Antalya, has been honored with the prestigious title of “Best Tourism Village” by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced the achievement, celebrating the village’s historical significance and natural beauty as a testament to sustainable tourism and rural development.

“This recognition is a source of pride for our country,” Ersoy stated in a social media post on Saturday.

“The village’s historical texture, unparalleled natural beauty, and its contributions to sustainable tourism and rural development have now been internationally acknowledged.”

In addition to Ormana’s accolade, Karabük’s Yörük village was included in the UNWTO’s Improvement Track, showcasing Türkiye’s broader commitment to fostering sustainable tourism across its rural landscapes.

Ersoy expressed hope that Ormana’s success would pave the way for greater global recognition and opportunities for the region.

Ormana, located in the scenic Taurus Mountains, is renowned for its well-preserved traditional architecture, particularly its iconic “saffron houses” made from local stone.

The village offers an authentic rural experience, blending cultural heritage with natural beauty.

Visitors are drawn to its picturesque hiking trails, local agricultural practices, and organic produce, making it a model for sustainable tourism.

Recent years have seen the village emerge as a leader in rural development, with initiatives focusing on preserving its unique architecture and promoting eco-tourism.

These efforts have solidified Ormana’s reputation as a hidden gem, offering travelers an immersive glimpse into Türkiye’s rich cultural and natural heritage.

Minister Ersoy concluded by emphasizing that this international recognition will not only enhance Ormana’s global profile but also position Antalya as a key destination for sustainable tourism.

The award underscores Türkiye’s growing prominence on the global tourism map.
