Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:NCLH) has announced the return of John Chidsey to its Board of Directors as an independent director, effective February 5, 2025. Chidsey, who served on the Board from 2013 to 2022, will now take on the role of Chairperson of the Nominating and Governance Committee while also joining the Audit Committee. With his appointment, seven out of the eight Board members are now independent.

“John has deep knowledge of large-scale operations, financial management, and corporate strategy shaped by his previous experience as CEO of Subway and Burger King,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. “His deep understanding of our industry due to his previous service on the Board will provide invaluable insight into the unique demands of the cruise sector. We are thrilled to welcome him back to the Board as an independent director and look forward to his continued contributions to our success.”

Mr. Chidsey most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Subway Restaurants for five years, guiding the company through his leadership until his retirement at the end of 2024. Before that, he was the CEO of Burger King Holdings, Inc., after having held the roles of President and Chief Financial Officer. His career also includes significant leadership roles at Cendant Corporation, where he served as Chairman and CEO of two major divisions—Vehicle Services and Financial Services. In the Vehicle Services Division, he managed brands like Avis Rent A Car, Budget Rent A Car, PHH, and Wright Express, while the Financial Services Division included Jackson Hewitt. Earlier in his career, Mr. Chidsey held various senior financial positions at PepsiCo.

He has contributed his expertise to the boards of Encompass Health Corporation, Burger King Holdings (where he was Chairman), and Brinker International. Mr. Chidsey holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting, a J.D. from Emory University, and a B.A. from Davidson College.Additionally, the Board is actively seeking a new member to join in the coming months.
