Air Taxi
Dubai

The eagerly awaited air taxi service, which will cut down the travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to just 10-20 minutes, is set to launch by the end of 2025. Currently, the drive between the two cities takes around 60 to 90 minutes. According to Archer Aviation, the Midnight air taxis will begin operations as soon as they arrive in Dubai later this year. Abu Dhabi will become the first city in the Middle East to offer such an exclusive air taxi service. Ticket prices for these flight taxis are expected to range from 800 to 1500 dirhams.

Within Dubai, fares for air taxi rides will be around 300 to 350 dirhams, with costs potentially reaching up to 800 dirhams for trips to other emirates. The price varies depending on the distance traveled. These air taxis will reduce journey times to just 10-20 minutes for trips that usually take over an hour by road. The authorities are aiming to complete trial flights by the end of this year, with the official service launch soon after. By 2026, air taxi services are expected to be available across all major Emirates in the UAE. The Archer Midnight aircraft, capable of carrying up to five people, including a pilot and four passengers, will operate at altitudes between 500 and 3,000 feet. Final route plans will be confirmed once the aviation department’s report is completed.

This air taxi service is expected to significantly boost Dubai’s tourism sector. A partnership between Abu Dhabi Aviation Group and Archer Aviation will help establish both domestic and international air taxi routes. Dubai’s first commercial vertiport, designated for air taxi takeoff and landing, is called the Dubai International Vertiport (DXV). This facility marks the first of four planned vertiports in the UAE, with additional sites planned for Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Downtown, and Dubai Marina, as well as Al Bateen, Yas Island, and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. In February, at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS), LODD, a company specializing in AI-powered drone technology and autonomous aerial logistics, alongside Skyports Infrastructure, made the announcement regarding the development of these vertiports.
