To mark the 45th anniversary of the MTR Corporation, the company hosted its inaugural large-scale outdoor event, “Chill Fun Trainival,” at the Central Harbourfront Event Space. The five-day railway-themed carnival, held from September 25 to 29, drew approximately 80,000 visitors. Attendees enjoyed a variety of railway-inspired games, interactive photo opportunities, and shared unforgettable experiences.
Dr Jacob Kam, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation said, “Since the beginning of this year,
the Corporation has initiated a series of activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the
commencement of our metro service with the community. We are grateful to the community
for their enthusiastic support and participation in all our events. Moving forward, we will
continue to foster connections with the community, journeying together with people from all
walks of life.”
The “Chill Fun Trainival” showcased five distinct themed zones, giving visitors an opportunity to explore the strong bond between the MTR and the local community through a wide range of interactive games and entertainment options. Over 10,000 exclusive railway-themed souvenirs were handed out, creating lasting memories for attendees. One of the highlights was Hong Kong’s first-ever outdoor train driver training simulator, which captivated visitors of all ages by allowing them to step into the role of a train captain. Additionally, MTR’s maintenance vehicles made their public debut at the event, offering guests a unique chance to get up close to these essential, yet often unseen, parts of the railway system.
Each evening at the “Chill Fun Trainival,” the “Live Jam” showcased performances from celebrated local artists, highlighting the vibrant cultural arts scene in the city. The event culminated in a memorable grand finale, with renowned singer Hins Cheung delivering a nostalgic rendition of a classic song, enchanting the crowd. This final performance was a fitting tribute to the MTR’s 45 years of fostering connections within the community, leaving attendees with cherished memories.
The MTR Corporation extended invitations to more than 15,000 students and members of various community organizations, such as the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, SideBySide, the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, Society for Community Organisation, and Gingko House. This initiative provided a wide and diverse range of individuals the chance to experience the excitement of the carnival and join in the shared celebrations.
