MCW Tech Sdn Bhd, a leader in sustainable coating technologies from Malaysia, has forged a partnership with Bahrain’s KAR Group to create a cutting-edge Ionpaint® production plant. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on January 9, 2025, with the ceremony receiving the endorsement of the Malaysian Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E. Ambassador Shazryll Zahiran.
This strategic partnership is a key component of Bahrain’s Vision 2030, aimed at reducing carbon footprints and promoting green initiatives, and aligns with Malaysia’s National Industrial Master Plan 2030. This plan focuses on enhancing economic sophistication, striving for net-zero emissions, and boosting manufacturing prowess to compete on a global stage. By joining forces with KAR Group, MCW Tech is set to drive significant sustainable advancements in the region through the launch of Ionpaint®, a product compliant with ESG standards and designed with sustainability at its core.
Ionpaint® is celebrated for its innovative contributions to environmental sustainability and has been awarded the Best Green Product & Technology Award by the Malaysia Green Building Council (MGBC), a recognition supported by the World Green Building Council. Furthermore, its environmental integrity is affirmed through certifications from prestigious global institutions such as the Japan Association of Ion Research and Application (JAIRA), Swiss SGS, China CMA, Hong Kong HKPC, and the Singapore Green Label, solidifying its status as a globally respected eco-friendly product.
“We are proud to partner with KAR Group to introduce our ESG-compliant Ionpaint® products to the Middle Eastern market, supporting Bahrain’s environmental objectives and advancing sustainable development in the region,” said Mervyn Bey, Founder of MCW Tech. He added, “This collaboration with Dr Khalid Abdul Rahim, Chairman of KAR Group, exemplifies the potential for Malaysian innovation to contribute to Bahrain’s Vision 2030 while fostering stronger economic ties between our nations. We hope this partnership inspires other Malaysian entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in Bahrain and across the Middle East.”
This collaboration highlights the significant role that Malaysian SMEs, such as MCW Tech, play in fostering innovation and sustainability on an international platform. With the backing of an ecosystem that promotes cooperation and technological progress, the company serves as a prime example of how strategic alliances can turn national objectives into effective outcomes. Programs like NIMP 2030 lay a solid groundwork for SMEs to broaden their influence while addressing wider sustainability goals.
The state-of-the-art Ionpaint® facility will utilize pioneering IONTECH® nanotechnology, formulated with environmentally friendly materials procured from Germany, Japan, and Australia. The production of air-cleansing paints that neutralize dangerous pollutants will not only improve local air quality but also comply with international green manufacturing standards.
