Malaysia's
Langkawi

EDOTCO Malaysia and Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) are strengthening their collaboration to turn Langkawi into Malaysia’s first 5G-enabled digital tourism hub, as revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona.

In partnership with the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), this ambitious project will provide ultra-fast 5G connectivity to popular tourist destinations, including Langkawi Sky Bridge, Geosites, Pantai Cenang, and major hotels. The enhanced network will support live HD streaming, AI-driven concierge services, and augmented reality (AR) guides for tourists.

A dedicated workshop for tourism professionals is set to take place in Langkawi next month, focusing on 5G-powered innovations, such as smart hotel operations, AI-based customer engagement, and seamless digital transactions.

The collaboration will last for two years, with the initial six months dedicated to a Proof of Concept (POC) to evaluate critical 5G applications. The subsequent 18 months will see the initiative grow, incorporating AI-powered smart hospitality systems and self-driving shuttle services.

This project aims to establish Langkawi as a leading example of smart, sustainable tourism, leveraging advanced 5G technology to improve visitor experiences and drive economic development.
