Macao Issues Travel Alerts

In response to the recent earthquake in Thailand, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has established a Level 1 Travel Alert for the country.

Additionally, the MGTO has reiterated that the existing Level 1 Travel Alert for Myanmar remains active. Macao residents who are either planning visits to Thailand or Myanmar, or are presently in these countries, are advised to remain vigilant and stay informed about the ongoing safety conditions.

The MGTO is actively keeping tabs on the developments in Myanmar following the earthquake. The Tourism Hotline has handled a case involving an individual who was unable to reach the airport due to road blockages and sought updates on local transport. The MGTO’s representative in Thailand provided the necessary support and information to the traveler.

Furthermore, the MGTO has received an inquiry about the Thailand travel alert. It has been confirmed by the local tourism sector that there are currently no travel groups from Macao in Thailand or Myanmar.

Macao’s telecommunication providers have also assisted in disseminating emergency contact details to 1,475 Macao mobile users who are currently roaming in Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos.
