In November, the Macao Grand Prix Museum, under the management of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), is hosting a series of dynamic events dedicated to the Macau Grand Prix. Collaborating with leading integrated resort enterprises, the Museum supports the upcoming 71st Macau Grand Prix, aiming to spotlight Macao’s unique “tourism + sports” offerings. This month-long celebration kicked off with the “Macau’s Karting History” Book Launch Event and Racers’ Sharing Session, presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group on November 11.

Celebrating Karting Legacy: “Macau’s Karting History” Book Launch

The recently released book Macau’s Karting History, published by PraiaGrande Edições and sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group, delves into the city’s rich karting heritage. Featuring over 140 vivid photographs, the book tells the story of kart racing in Macao, tracing its evolution and impact on the motorsport culture. In a gesture to inspire the next generation, Galaxy Entertainment Group will distribute copies to all primary and secondary schools and public libraries across Macao. For those seeking a hands-on experience, the Coloane Karting Track invites visitors to feel the thrill of karting.

Champion Racers Share Their Journeys

During the book launch event at the Macao Grand Prix Museum, authors Pedro Da Mesquita and Carlos Barreto presented the book to dignitaries, celebrating Macao’s motorsport heritage. Notable karting champions Johnny Afonso and Daniel Tam Ka Keong joined the authors to discuss their racing journeys, accomplishments, and challenges. Johnny Afonso, a coach at the Karting Academy of the Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC), has a distinguished record, including the 2015 Asian Karting Open Championship title. Daniel Tam Ka Keong, founder of Solar Racing Team, shared his experiences and victories, including his win at the 2008 Macau International Kart Grand Prix. Together, they offered insights into Macao’s karting history, the sport’s cultural significance, and its exciting future.

November Motorsports Activities at the Macao Grand Prix Museum

The Macao Grand Prix Museum is bringing motorsport to life through diverse events throughout November. MGTO, in partnership with SJM Resorts, recently launched an exhibition on Theodore Racing, and Wynn presented a special Wynn Chocolate F1 exhibition. In addition to these, the Museum is set to host a multimedia experience, the “VR F3 Pit Stop Challenge,” along with another insightful session titled “A Racing Legacy – Where Theodore Racing’s Performance Reached its Peak.” These events reflect Macao’s dedication to promoting its motorsport heritage while blending tourism with sporting experiences.

A Commitment to Preserving Macao’s Motorsport Culture

Since its reopening in 2021 after a significant expansion, the Macao Grand Prix Museum has offered a more immersive experience, adding multimedia displays, motorsport exhibits, and barrier-free facilities. This renovation is part of MGTO’s ongoing effort to preserve and promote the Macau Grand Prix’s cultural heritage, providing residents and visitors with an educational and enjoyable experience. The Museum embodies the city’s “tourism +” vision, enhancing Macao’s appeal as a premier destination that seamlessly combines culture, tourism, and sports.

The Macao Grand Prix Museum welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, except Tuesdays, offering an exciting glimpse into the world of motorsport and Macao’s vibrant tourism landscape.
