Savall, a renowned Spanish chocolatier with a legacy dating back to 1892, has officially launched its first Vietnamese outlet at Wafaifo Resort Hoi An, offering an exquisite collection of handmade chocolates inspired by the country’s cultural and historical landmarks.

The new Chocolate Corner by Savall in Hoi An brings the brand’s 132-year-old confectionery craftsmanship to a destination recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This expansion aligns with Vietnam’s growing reputation for high-quality cocoa production, supported by government initiatives promoting sustainable agriculture and local industries.

Vietnamese Culture Meets European Excellence

The chocolates at Savall’s new outlet are not just sweet treats but artistic representations of Vietnam’s heritage. Inspired by iconic landmarks such as the Japanese Bridge, Dragon Bridge, and Hue Citadel walls, the chocolates also showcase Hoi An’s famed lanterns and bamboo forests. These designs celebrate Vietnam’s rich cultural identity, reinforcing Hoi An’s position as a top tourism destination, as promoted by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Unlike mass-produced chocolates, Savall’s confections are crafted using 100% Vietnamese ingredients, free from artificial preservatives, dyes, or flavorings. The company sources its cocoa from Vietnamese cacao farmers, supporting the nation’s agriculture-based economic development strategies.

A Passion Project with Generations of Expertise

The Savall workshop in Danang, near Hoi An, is led by Chef Victor Ceano Savall, a third-generation chocolatier. His family founded the historic Pastelería Reñé in Barcelona in 1892, a landmark still celebrated in the Spanish confectionery industry.

Chef Victor moved to Vietnam in 2014 and, after working in local restaurants, established Savall in Danang in 2016, blending his European chocolatier heritage with Vietnam’s premium cocoa. His passion for artisanal, hand-crafted chocolates brings a luxurious touch to Vietnam’s expanding gourmet chocolate industry.

“The recipes my grandfather Joaquim Savall Reñé passed down to me come to life at Chocolate Corner by Savall. Using the finest Vietnamese ingredients, we have created chocolates that look as stunning as they taste,” said Chef Victor.

A Gourmet Experience at Wafaifo Resort

Visitors to Chocolate Corner by Savall at Wafaifo Resort Hoi An can sample the brand’s signature chocolates, including bonbons and catanias—a specialty of caramelized, white chocolate-covered nuts dusted in cocoa powder.

Guests can also pair their chocolate indulgence with premium teas, coffees, and juices at the resort’s Bang Huu coffee shop, enhancing the overall gourmet experience.

This collaboration between Savall and Wafaifo Resort underscores Vietnam’s emergence as a destination for luxury hospitality and artisanal culinary experiences.
