Lufthansa, easyJet, Air France, KLM, Ryanair, Nantes Airport,

Today, November 6, nearly all flights to and from Nantes airport have been canceled as the airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Service team goes on strike. All 36 firefighters and rescue workers at the airport have joined the protest, calling for an urgent recruitment drive, better pay, and improved seniority rights.

Passengers flying with airlines including easyJet, Transavia, Lufthansa, KLM, Ryanair, Air France, Vueling, and Royal Air Maroc are impacted by these cancellations. Nantes Airport is advising anyone set to travel today to check with their airline for up-to-date flight information. The airport’s live departure board shows nearly every flight canceled, and FlightAware reports a total of 42 flights canceled so far.

The firefighters’ strike motion is currently scheduled to last until December 31, though it’s unclear if disruptions will continue at this level. Fortunately, most flights scheduled for tomorrow, November 7, appear set to run as planned.

Additionally, a large safety exercise is on the calendar for today, running from 5:30 p.m. to midnight. Up to 700 people, including local hospital workers, are involved in this drill, which will simulate emergencies such as a runway overrun. While this drill alone was not expected to disrupt airport operations, its status is uncertain given today’s strike. Should it proceed, road traffic near the airport may be impacted.

Travelers are urged to stay updated on flight statuses and local traffic, as the situation may change.
