Kuthlur village in Karnataka is honored as the Best Adventure Tourism Village, recognized for its thrilling experiences and dedication to preserving natural and cultural assets.
Kuthlur village in Belthangady taluk has been named the ‘Best Tourism Village’ in the Adventure Tourism category by the Ministry of Tourism. This recognition highlights the village’s potential as a unique destination that offers thrilling experiences while preserving its cultural and natural assets.
The Ministry of Tourism holds the Best Tourism Village competition to honor villages that showcase a strong commitment to sustainable tourism. These villages not only preserve their heritage and environment but also promote community-based values and lifestyles. This year’s winners will be celebrated during the World Tourism Day event in New Delhi on September 27.
In preparation for the competition, the Ministry invited applications online in February. Harish Dakaiah, Sandeep Poojary, and Shivaraj from Kuthlur village were responsible for submitting the village’s details, presenting its strengths as an adventure tourism destination. Their efforts have now been rewarded with national recognition.
This competition, now in its second year, aims to support rural communities that prioritize sustainable tourism practices. Last year, Kuthlur also participated, submitting their village’s details, but this year they succeeded in being selected as the top adventure tourism village from their state.
The national acknowledgment for Kuthlur is a significant achievement for the village and the state, placing it on the map as an emerging destination for adventure tourism. It reflects the dedication of its residents to developing tourism while maintaining respect for their environment and traditions.
