The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) recently wrapped up a highly successful participation at the OTM Tourism Exhibition in Mumbai, India, held from January 30 to February 1. The event saw strong engagement from Jordanian tourism companies alongside Royal Jordanian Airlines, collectively promoting the Kingdom as a premier travel destination.
A highlight of the exhibition was the visit by India’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who engaged with Jordanian tourism sector representatives. During his tour of the Jordanian pavilion, he explored the country’s diverse travel offerings and acknowledged its growing appeal in areas such as wedding tourism, religious tourism, and cultural exchange. He also expressed interest in deepening bilateral tourism cooperation.
JTB strategically leveraged its participation to emphasize Jordan’s rich cultural and heritage tourism experiences. The Kingdom’s breathtaking destinations—such as Petra, the Dead Sea, and Wadi Rum—were positioned as ideal venues for Indian weddings, an increasingly popular market. Additionally, Jordan’s striking landscapes were promoted as prime film shooting locations, competing with some of the world’s most renowned cinematic backdrops.
The Jordanian pavilion drew significant interest from attendees, further amplified by Royal Jordanian Airlines’ announcement of a new direct flight route between Amman and Mumbai starting in April. This development is expected to enhance connectivity and encourage a greater influx of Indian travelers, particularly those seeking immersive travel experiences.
Adding to its triumph, Jordan was honored with the prestigious “Best Cultural and Heritage Tourism Destination” award at the OTM Excellence Awards. This accolade recognizes the Kingdom’s exceptional blend of ancient heritage and natural beauty, reinforcing its status as a must-visit destination.
JTB’s commitment to expanding Jordan’s tourism footprint in India has been evident through past initiatives, including a traveling roadshow in Bangalore and Mumbai in collaboration with the Jordanian Embassy in Delhi. These efforts have actively promoted Jordan to Indian wedding planners and filmmakers, showcasing its unique landscapes and historical sites for destination weddings and film productions.
Continuing its global outreach, JTB remains dedicated to enhancing Jordan’s position on the international tourism map. Through participation in key exhibitions and targeted marketing efforts, the Board aims to attract more travelers from India and across Asia, capitalizing on the Kingdom’s unparalleled tourism assets.
