Jamaica is set to host the 3rd Annual Global Tourism Resilience Conference and Expo from February 17 to 19, 2025, at the Princess Grand Hotel in Hanover.
This event will gather top experts worldwide to discuss strategies for enhancing tourism resilience, a topic of significant importance for developing countries like India.
The conference aims to achieve several key outcomes:
- Enhanced Knowledge of Digital Tools for Resilience: Participants will explore the latest digital technologies, including cybersecurity measures, artificial intelligence, robotics, immersive technologies, and the Metaverse, to strengthen tourism resilience.
- Renewed Focus on Building Resilience: Discussions will center on developing robust frameworks to prepare for and respond to various challenges and disruptions in the tourism sector.
- Collaboration for Resilience Solutions: The event will foster partnerships among tourism stakeholders and digital technology firms globally to develop innovative solutions for common challenges.
- Practical Resilience Case Studies: Attendees will examine real-world examples of successful resilience strategies implemented in different regions.

Hon. Edmund Bartlett, founder of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) and Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The principles of tourism resilience have guided us in Jamaica and are crucial to our ongoing success.
As the global tourism industry continues to grow and change in the face of new challenges and disruptions, it has never been more important to tap into the expertise of leaders and innovators to collaboratively discuss issues that are central to future-proofing travel and tourism worldwide.”
The conference agenda is structured as follows:
- Day 1: Focus on the digital transformation of tourism, with an emphasis on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, immersive technologies, and the Metaverse.
- Day 2: Highlighting coastal tourism resilience and innovations aimed at protecting vast coastal tourism assets from natural and human threats.
- Day 3: Featuring a high-level ministerial roundtable on digital technologies for resilience, along with sessions showcasing Jamaica’s resilient tourism practices. The day will also include gastronomic events celebrating Jamaica’s rich culinary heritage and demonstrations of the latest technologies in tourism resilience.
Donovan White, Director of Tourism at the Jamaica Tourist Board, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “Tourism is the world’s largest industry, and the same holds true here in Jamaica.
