ITC Hotels is set to expand its portfolio with the addition of Welcomhotel Mandu, located in the historic city of Mandu, Madhya Pradesh. The new property will offer 94 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, meeting spaces, a spa, and a swimming pool. With this venture, ITC Hotels will have nearly 540 keys in Madhya Pradesh, which includes two operational WelcomHeritage properties in Pench and Pachmarhi, alongside three Welcomhotels planned for Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Bhopal.
The company has signed a management agreement with Bhopal-based Lunera Castle Resort & Spa to manage the historic ‘Lunera ki Sarai.’ The property will be rebranded as Welcomhotel Mandu, celebrating the rich heritage and architectural beauty of Mandu, known for its historical significance and romantic legends.
Mandu, also referred to as Mandav, is a fortified city surrounded by stone walls and dotted with gateways (darwazas). It is a popular destination for tourists, history enthusiasts, and art lovers, thanks to its rich history and stunning architecture. The Lunera ki Sarai, with historical roots dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, is poised to become a major attraction, located just a two-hour drive from Indore.
Pankaj Phulwani, Director of Lunera Castle Resort and Spa, emphasized ITC Hotels’ renowned excellence in hospitality. “ITC Hotels has a well-established reputation in the industry. We are confident that, with their exceptional service standards and skilled personnel, this resort will stand out and help elevate Mandu as one of Madhya Pradesh’s top tourist destinations,” Phulwani stated.
The transformation of Lunera ki Sarai into Welcomhotel Mandu is set to enhance Mandu’s appeal as a prime destination for travelers seeking to explore India’s cultural and historical heritage.
