Istanbul’s Culture Route Festival has officially commenced, featuring an impressive lineup of more than 500 events throughout the city over the next nine days. The festival launched at the Ataturk Cultural Center in the Beyoglu district, highlighted by a mesmerizing performance of “Carmina Burana” from the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.
Spanning over 110 venues, the festival makes use of iconic locations, including stages set at the Galataport Clock Tower Square along the picturesque Bosphorus Strait. Attendees can engage in a diverse array of activities, from concerts and film screenings to exhibitions showcasing international artists. A notable highlight is Refik Anadolu’s “Earth Dreams: Anatolia,” which combines photography, digital art, painting, sculpture, and traditional crafts into a compelling experience.
The festival aims to enhance Istanbul’s status as a prime tourist destination, especially with the city welcoming a record 12.27 million visitors in the first eight months of this year. Initially launched in 2021, the Culture Route Festival has broadened its scope to include 15 other Turkish cities, significantly enriching the cultural landscape of the nation.
In addition to its artistic endeavors, the festival emphasizes local gastronomy, featuring various food stalls and culinary events that celebrate the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine. This initiative not only elevates the festival experience for attendees but also supports local chefs and artisans, showcasing Istanbul’s vibrant culinary heritage.
Furthermore, the festival fosters community engagement through workshops and interactive sessions, allowing attendees to connect with artists and learn about different art forms. This hands-on approach encourages cultural exchange and provides a platform for emerging talents, ensuring the festival remains a dynamic and inclusive celebration of creativity.
