Spectacular scenes from Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way will soon be showcased to more than 500,000 Belgian viewers as a special episode of the acclaimed culinary travel series Sergio Over De Grens (translated as Sergio Across Borders) airs today (5 February) on Belgium’s VTM channel. The episode will also be accessible on the streaming platform VTM GO and will air in the Netherlands at a later date.

Renowned Dutch chef Sergio Herman leads the series, traveling across Europe to uncover unique culinary traditions and regional flavors. In this Ireland-focused episode, he embarks on an extraordinary food journey along the Wild Atlantic Way, seeking out fresh local ingredients, authentic dishes, and unforgettable gastronomic experiences.

Filmed during the summer with the support of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, the episode captures the beauty and culinary richness of Clare, Galway, and Mayo. Highlights include visits to the scenic Killary Fjord, the artisanal Micil Distillery, and the charming Glen Keen Farm, where Sergio immerses himself in the local food culture.

Audiences will also see him experience the distinctive flavors of the region at renowned dining spots, including POTA Café, The Artisan Pantry, The Kings Head, and Wild Kitchen, where he connects with local chefs and producers passionate about their craft.

By spotlighting Ireland’s scenic landscapes and vibrant food scene, the program aims to inspire Belgian and Dutch travelers to experience the Wild Atlantic Way firsthand, positioning Ireland as a premier destination for culinary tourism.

Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Northern Europe, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the production of this special Wild Atlantic Way episode of ‘Sergio Over De Grens’. Viewers across Belgium and the Netherlands will see Sergio Herman travel along the Wild Atlantic Way in search of new flavours, local ingredients and inspiring experiences.

“Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity. It’s a wonderful opportunity to highlight our stunning scenery and our fantastic cultural and culinary experiences to more than 500,000 viewers across Belgium alone, inspiring them to come and experience the Wild Atlantic Way for themselves.”
