Indian citizens are increasingly exploring job and study opportunities abroad, thanks to globalization making such pursuits more accessible. India is one of the leading sources of workers and students globally. However, navigating the visa process can still be a significant hurdle. While some countries are lenient, others impose stricter requirements, as reported by Schengen.News.

According to data from SchengenVisaInfo, Indian citizens submitted 966,687 Schengen visa applications, with 811,290 approved and 151,752 rejected. This translates to an overall refusal rate of 83.9% for Indian applicants.

Here are the top five Schengen countries where Indian citizens have the easiest time obtaining a visa in 2024:

1. Iceland
Iceland tops the list with an impressive 95.4% approval rate. Out of 2,904 visa applications filed by Indians, only 122 were rejected. However, the country issued MEVs to just 18.29% of applicants, one of the lowest rates among Schengen countries.

2. Germany
Germany approved 89.5% of the 132,825 visa applications submitted by Indian citizens, with 118,819 approved and 13,779 rejected. Importantly, Germany offers one of the best chances of receiving a Multiple Entry Visa, as 99.6% of its approved visas were MEVs.

3. Switzerland
Switzerland processed the highest number of Indian visa applications, approving 166,919 in 2023 with an approval rate of 88%. Additionally, 98.51% of the visas issued were MEVs.

4. Luxembourg
Luxembourg had an 85.8% approval rate for the 3,090 visa applications filed by Indian nationals. However, the issuance of MEVs was relatively low, with only 42.59% of visas issued as multiple-entry visas.

5. Belgium
Belgium granted 85.8% of the 20,582 visa applications submitted by Indians in 2023. In addition to a high approval rate, 71.9% of these visas were MEVs, making it a favorable destination for Indians seeking multiple-entry visas.

While countries like Switzerland received a large volume of visa applications, countries like Germany and Iceland offer the best approval chances for Indian applicants, making them top choices for securing Schengen visas in 2024.
