Marriott International, Inc. has announced a record-breaking year in the Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) region, signing 109 new deals across 11 markets. This achievement added 21,439 rooms to its development pipeline, closing 2024 with a total of 77,532 rooms in the region’s year-end pipeline. The company continues to strengthen its foothold across diverse market segments, including its first venture into the midscale category and the expansion of its luxury portfolio, solidifying its leadership in the region’s dynamic hospitality landscape.
Key Growth Highlights Across Segments
In 2024, Marriott achieved significant milestones, with 109 new deals contributing to a total pipeline of 363 properties and 77,532 rooms in APEC—reflecting a 12% year-over-year growth. India, Japan, and Indonesia were the top-performing markets, accounting for 72% of the year’s deal signings.
The luxury segment remains a key focus, representing 19% of all deals signed in 2024. Over 20 agreements, covering 4,600 rooms across six luxury brands, cater to rising demand from affluent travelers. Notable upcoming luxury openings include EDITION in Jakarta and Mumbai, The Ritz-Carlton in Jaipur and Udaipur, and a second W Hotel in Singapore.
Conversions played a vital role in the pipeline’s expansion, representing 36% of 2024 signings. Marriott also marked its regional debut in the affordable midscale segment with the launch of Four Points Flex by Sheraton in Japan. This strategic move includes a partnership with KKR to convert 14 properties across 10 cities, starting with the Four Points Flex by Sheraton Osaka Umeda, which also celebrated Marriott’s 100th property milestone in Japan.

Marriott extended its footprint to new destinations in 2024, including its entry into Papua New Guinea with Marriott Executive Apartments Port Moresby, increasing its presence to 22 countries and territories in APEC.
