India’s Leave Travel Concession now allows government employees to enjoy unmatched comfort with access to 385 premium trains, including Vande Bharat and Tejas.

The Ministry of Railways has taken a significant step to enhance the convenience and comfort of government employees by expanding the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) benefits to include travel in premium trains such as Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Humsafar Express. Under this new initiative, government employees can now enjoy travel in 385 premium trains when availing their LTC benefits. This upgrade allows employees to travel to their hometowns or any destination across India in world-class train services.

Addition of New Trains for LTC Eligibility
According to the Ministry’s latest announcement, an additional 241 premium trains have been added to the LTC scheme for Central Government employees. The new additions include 136 Vande Bharat, 97 Humsafar, and 8 Tejas Express trains, providing greater accessibility and comfort.

Previously, government employees were only eligible to use LTC for travel in 144 premium trains, such as the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto Express. This recent enhancement raises the total number of eligible trains for LTC travel to 385, covering regions nationwide.

Eligibility Based on Employee Levels
Government employees can access premium train facilities based on their grade and level:

  • Short and Medium-Distance Travel: Employees at Level 11 and below can travel in chair car coaches of Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Shatabdi Express trains, while those at Level 12 and above are eligible for executive chair car seating.
  • Long-Distance Travel (Berth Coaches):
    • Employees at Level 12 and above can travel in AC 2-tier coaches of luxurious trains like Rajdhani Express.
    • Employees between Levels 6 to 11 are entitled to AC 2-tier travel.
    • Those at Level 5 and below can travel in AC 3-tier coaches under LTC.

What is Leave Travel Concession (LTC)?
Leave Travel Concession (LTC) is a benefit extended to government employees, allowing them to travel to their hometown or any location within India during a four-year block period. Employees can utilize this benefit for hometown visits twice in two separate two-year blocks or combine one hometown trip with a journey to any location in India. This initiative supports employees in exploring the country while balancing personal and professional commitments.
