Reno’s newest hotel, Hyatt Place South Reno, has officially opened its doors, offering an upscale blend of style and services tailored to adventurous visitors, families seeking fun, and business travelers looking for a high-end experience. Developed by Tolles and Pelzer Hospitality in collaboration with Azul Hospitality of San Diego and Hyatt, this select-service hotel is set to elevate the stay for the tens of thousands of travelers who visit the Reno and Tahoe area each year.
Ideally located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the 132-room property is just 14 miles from both Mt. Rose Ski Resort and Virginia City, making it an attractive option for ski enthusiasts and adventure seekers who prefer convenient access without the hassle of staying in the Tahoe Basin.
“We designed this hotel to meet the specific needs of visitors who come to Reno Tahoe to experience the adventure of skiing, mountain biking, hiking and other outdoor sports, as well as for families and business travelers who want easy access to Tahoe, Reno and Carson City,” said Par Tolles, CEO of Tolles. “Beyond being a go-to hotel for skiers in the winter and hikers and bikers in the summer, we are providing a state-of-the-art product that can meet both the business and family traveler year-round.”
Beyond its proximity to Tahoe, Hyatt Place South Reno offers easy access to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and is steps away from Shayden Summit Mall, the region’s premier shopping and entertainment hub. The mall has recently added exciting venues like Dave & Buster’s and Trader Joe’s, complementing an array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
“I’ve been in the hotel and hospitality business for most of my life and I’ve never been more excited to launch a property,” said Steve Pelzer, CEO of Pelzer Hospitality. “We’re the closest hotel in Reno to the state capital, Carson City, and expect to be very attractive to the increasing number of business leaders and entrepreneurs pursuing business in Nevada.”
The hotel’s design pays tribute to Reno’s historical ties with the creation of blue jeans. Inspired by the partnership between local tailor Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873, the interior features original materials from the famous patent, displayed in the business center.
Guests will also enjoy a variety of functional amenities, including:
A heated outdoor covered pool
24/7 fitness center
24/7 business center
Outdoor patio and terrace with fire pits
Storage for golf clubs and ski equipment
The Placery Restaurant, offering a curated menu, local beers, and daily specials
Complimentary breakfast
24/7 late-night menu
All rooms boast mountain views, with select premium one-bedroom suites featuring kitchenettes.
“We’re confident that the Hyatt Place South Reno will become a fixture of the hospitality industry for both visitors and the local business community as northern Nevada and south Reno continue to grow,” said Danny Diefenthaler, general manager of the Hyatt Place South Reno. “Our outdoor patios and versatile event spaces are ideal for upscale, intimate events with a beautiful mountain vista.”
For events, the property offers flexible spaces, perfect for corporate functions, receptions, and more. The outdoor patio spans 640 sq. ft., equipped with modern fire pits, while the Zephyr Room can be expanded to 1,195 sq. ft. The Silver Dollar Board Room offers 761 sq. ft. of formal space with versatile configuration options, ensuring an ideal setting for any occasion.
