Traditional favorites like Fiji and Bali in Indonesia have dropped out of the top 10 most-searched international flights. Instead, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) has emerged as the leading destination for Australian travelers!

In fact, the number of Australians searching for international flights to Kuala Lumpur has surged threefold compared to last year, solidifying its position as the top destination.
The rise in popularity of Kuala Lumpur among Australian travelers is also boosted by the introduction of new direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
Additionally, traveling to Kuala Lumpur has become more convenient for Australians with AirAsia’s announcement of new flights to Darwin starting in June 2025.
In the meantime, Christchurch, New Zealand—only a 3-hour flight from Sydney—claims the second spot on the list. The top five destinations also include Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam at number three, Mumbai in India at number four, and Guangzhou in China at number five.
