Holland America Line is all set to embark on its highly anticipated 2025 Alaska cruising season, with the first ship departing on April 26. This season, six Holland America ships will explore the natural wonders of Alaska, sailing roundtrip from Seattle, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as between Vancouver and Whittier, Alaska, until September 2025.
Enhanced experiences on the majestic Alaskan frontier
This season, Holland America Line continues to offer unique, immersive experiences on both land and sea. Guests will enjoy some of Alaska’s most iconic destinations, such as Glacier Bay, Mendenhall Glacier National Recreation Area, and Denali National Park, alongside a wide range of wildlife encounters, including the opportunity to spot the “Big Five” species of Alaska.
“We’re excited to showcase Alaska’s incredible natural beauty and culture in a way that guests will never forget,” said Robert Morgenstern, Senior Vice President of Alaska Operations. “Whether it’s up-close glacier views, wildlife spotting, or hiking the stunning national parks, this season’s cruises offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences for all travelers.”
Six ships to offer diverse routes for 2025 travelers
For the 2025 Alaska season, Holland America Line will deploy six ships: Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam, and Zaandam. These ships will call at Seattle twice a week and Vancouver three times a week, helping to generate an estimated $150 million USD in local economic impact through guest spending, ship fueling, and provisioning.
Destination Dining offers an authentic taste of Alaska
Holland America Line emphasizes its commitment to offering guests an authentic Alaskan experience through its Destination Dining program. Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in locally sourced meals and take part in onboard cooking shows, where they will learn about Alaska’s culinary traditions and fresh fish, with dishes created by Chef Morimoto.
A highlight of this season’s culinary offerings is the Alaska Brunch, showcasing local specialties like Alaskan Blueberry Pancakes, Reindeer Sausage, and Crab Cakes, all designed to reflect the region’s vibrant culinary culture.
Glacier Day takes center stage on every cruise
In an industry-first, Holland America Line offers its signature Glacier Day on each cruise, spotlighting Alaska’s stunning glaciers. Guests can witness Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, and Tracy Arm from the ship’s open bow, while enjoying scenic commentary, photo opportunities, and special glacial ice cocktails. Talks by Glacier Bay National Park Rangers and Huna cultural interpreters deepen the experience with local knowledge.
Wildlife and conservation efforts highlight the Alaskan journey
Holland America Line offers more wildlife viewing opportunities than any other cruise line. A wildlife expert onboard each ship helps guests spot native species, while nearly 180 shore excursions provide opportunities for wildlife encounters on land.
The company’s commitment to conservation is evident through its partnership with the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC), where proceeds from Alaska Brunch cocktails and plush toys benefit the center’s conservation efforts.
Denali and Yukon Cruisetours offer extended exploration
Holland America Line’s Cruisetours provide travelers with the chance to visit Denali National Park and explore Canada’s Yukon Territory. These nine to 18-day tours offer a combination of river cruising and overland exploration. Guests can enjoy up to three nights at the Holland America Denali Lodge, with additional opportunities for guided activities and scenic tours.
A future of adventure and luxury on the Alaskan frontier
For 2025, Holland America Line has unveiled several special cruises, such as the 28-day “Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice” cruise aboard the Westerdam, offering an expedition to the Bering Sea and Arctic Circle. The “Great Alaska Explorer” cruise will visit eight ports over 14 days, and there are seven-day “Glacier Discovery” sailings departing from Vancouver and Whittier, as well as roundtrip from Seattle.
For Denali and Yukon Cruisetours, guests can enjoy up to three days in Denali combined with a seven-day Glacier Discovery cruise, all designed to deepen the Alaska experience through comprehensive land and sea itineraries.
On Deck for a Cause supports Alaska’s parks
Continuing its tradition of giving back, Holland America Line’s On Deck for a Cause initiative invites guests to participate in a noncompetitive 5K fundraising walk on every Alaska cruise. The funds raised go to support Alaska Geographic, the nonprofit education partner of Alaska’s parks and conservation areas.
