Hilton Bali Resort

Hilton Bali Resort, set on a sprawling 27-acre cliffside in the serene Nusa Dua area, has enhanced its commitment to sustainability, focusing on preserving Bali’s unspoiled natural beauty while uplifting local communities.

Circular Economy

Dedicated to environmental sustainability, the resort emphasizes reusing and repurposing materials creatively. Rainwater is harvested for irrigation, while fruit peelings find new life as edible candles and unique artisanal goods, such as corn cob jelly and banana peel jam. Glass bottles previously used for jam, honey, and kombucha are ingeniously repurposed to store condiments like chili sauce, ketchup, mustard, and milk. In addition, leftover building materials from renovations are transformed into functional furniture and decorative pieces for the buffet area, showcasing the team’s innovative approach to waste reduction.

Community Engagement

To minimize its environmental impact while uplifting the local community, the resort sources fresh eggs from free-range hens raised by nearby farmers, using them to prepare delectable breakfast options at the Nusa Dua Lounge. The resort also participates in the ‘Soap for Hope’ program in collaboration with Diversey, an Indonesian cleaning supply company. This initiative converts used guest soaps into new bars, which are then distributed to underprivileged communities, promoting both hygiene and sustainability.

Eco-Friendly Operations

In 2024, the resort underwent a rigorous third-party audit, leading to significant upgrades such as switching to LED lighting and installing water-saving devices in public areas, guest rooms, and kitchens. The culinary team partners with the landscaping crew to repurpose compostable food waste into fertilizer as part of the “EcoEnzyme Project.” Additionally, a collaboration with Lengis Hijau, Bali’s pioneering nonprofit for recycling cooking oil into biodiesel, furthers the resort’s commitment to green practices. Looking ahead, plans are underway to implement an on-site water bottling system, aiming to reduce plastic waste and enhance sustainable operations.
