This marked an impressive 18% year-on-year increase, making 2024 the third-highest year for passenger traffic in the airport’s history. The airport’s collaboration with airlines resulted in the operation of 41 new routes and direct connections to 181 destinations globally.
Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, highlighted the achievements, noting a high average aircraft occupancy rate of over 83%, emphasizing environmental efficiency and economic benefits for the Czech Republic. Looking ahead to 2025, Prague Airport aims to surpass previous records, projecting 18.4 million passengers, driven by expanded air connections and competitive policies.

Highlights from 2024 Operations
- New Routes and Increased Frequencies: The airport achieved a significant milestone by launching 41 new routes, further enhancing its global connectivity. Additionally, 66 routes saw increased flight frequencies, providing passengers with more flexible travel options.
- Resumed Long-Haul Connections: Long-haul travel saw a resurgence with Hainan Airlines resuming flights to Beijing and SCAT Airlines reconnecting Prague with Astana. Egypt Air reestablished its connection to Cairo, marking its first regular operation to the destination since 2011.
- Popular Destinations: The Prague-London route remained the busiest, handling almost 1.4 million passengers, a 26% year-on-year increase. Paris attracted 719,000 passengers (+4%), followed by Amsterdam with 651,000 passengers (+21%), Milan with 606,000 passengers (+11%), and Rome with 536,000 passengers (+37%). These routes underscored Prague Airport’s strategic importance in European air travel.
- Top Countries: Great Britain topped the list with 2.1 million passengers, reflecting a 29% year-on-year increase. Italy followed with 1.9 million passengers (+22%), while Spain recorded 1.6 million passengers, a staggering 38% increase year-on-year.
- Top Airlines: Among the 76 airlines operating at Prague Airport, Smartwings, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa emerged as the leading carriers. These airlines played a crucial role in supporting the airport’s growth by connecting Prague to key destinations and offering competitive services to passengers.
