Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Limited (Joramco), a leading Amman-based maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility and the engineering arm of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE).
The agreement aims to expand joint MRO services and further solidify the long-standing collaboration between the two organizations.
This strategic partnership builds on a relationship spanning over 15 years, during which Joramco has completed more than 250 heavy maintenance checks for Gulf Air since 2009.
The MOU marks a significant step in exploring the development of Gulf Air’s MRO capabilities in Bahrain, including potential hangar facilities that would leverage Joramco’s expertise and capitalize on the synergies forged over the years.
The agreement was signed by Gulf Air Group Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jeffrey Goh and Joramco’s Chief Executive Officer Fraser Currie during the Bahrain Airshow 2024.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of the partnership and its potential to address the growing demand for MRO services in the aviation industry.
“Gulf Air is in a position to enhance its MRO services and offer them to in-house and third-party operators,” said Dr. Jeffrey Goh, Gulf Air Group CEO.
“I was happy to visit Joramco recently, and I believe there are opportunities to collaborate further, especially as the industry experiences increased demand for capacity.”
Fraser Currie, CEO of Joramco, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are delighted to enter into this new MOU with our esteemed partner Gulf Air as they explore exciting strategic opportunities for MRO services.
Joramco and Gulf Air have enjoyed a trusted partnership since 2009, and we now seek to grow that trust for the mutual benefit of both partners.”
This new collaboration highlights the commitment of Gulf Air and Joramco to advancing MRO capabilities in the region while addressing the industry’s expanding needs.
As Gulf Air explores establishing its own MRO facilities in Bahrain, this partnership is poised to set new benchmarks for excellence in aircraft maintenance and repair services.
