The Guadeloupe Islands Tourism Board (GITB) is excited to announce its participation in the New York Travel & Adventure Show this weekend. This premier travel event, one of the most popular in North America, draws over 25,000 attendees annually. With a vibrant presence at the show, the Guadeloupe Islands delegation will showcase the archipelago’s unique charm, positioning it as the ultimate French Caribbean destination.

The Tourism Board’s 40-square-meter booth promises to be an immersive experience, highlighting the region’s stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the must-see Memorial ACTe, a world-renowned cultural and historical center praised by Reverend Jesse Jackson as “the most phenomenal museum of its kind in the world.”

This extraordinary museum offers a deep dive into the history of the transatlantic slave trade and the African and Caribbean diaspora, blending the past and present. Situated on the site of a former sugar factory, Memorial ACTe is a vital part of UNESCO’s Slave Route Project, a global initiative that examines the causes, practices, and impacts of slavery worldwide.

Among the partners presents, the PTP airport announcing the new name for the island’s primary
gateway : the Guadeloupe International Maryse Condé Airport. This rebranding pays tribute to
Maryse Condé, the internationally acclaimed novelist and native of Guadeloupe, whose work has
brought the richness of the islands’ culture and identity to the global stage. “Participating in this year’s
New York Travel Adventure Show was especially meaningful to us, as Condé taught for many years at
Columbia University. Her unique way of telling Caribbean and African tales has influenced generations,
and her legacy is more alive than ever today. We could not think of a better way to kick off this year’s
North-American promotional campaign for the destination alongside our partners.” said Alain BIEVRE,
Chairman of the Board of Guadeloupe International Maryse Condé Airport.

As part of the Guadeloupe Islands’ dedication to celebrating their vibrant cultural heritage and establishing themselves as the Caribbean’s next cultural capital, the New York Travel & Adventure Show will feature special live performances honoring Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. This extraordinary violinist, composer, and fencer of Guadeloupean descent has captured a new generation of fans following the release of the acclaimed 2023 film Chevalier.

To pay tribute to his legacy, a string quartet will perform two enchanting sessions on Saturday, January 25, at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM at the Guadeloupe Islands booth (#449). These performances will offer visitors an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges, set to take place in Guadeloupe from November 13 to 25, 2025. This prestigious festival celebrates the life and works of the Chevalier while highlighting the islands’ rich cultural roots and dynamic artistic spirit.

The Guadeloupe Islands Tourism Board will also be joined by key partners, including La Clef des Îles, a premier concierge service offering personalized travel planning, and CaraSouls, a New York-based travel agency specializing in curated vacation packages to the Guadeloupe Islands. Together, they aim to help New Yorkers and East Coast travelers escape winter and immerse themselves in the warmth, culture, and natural beauty of the French Caribbean.

Visitors to booth #449 will also be treated to a sensory exploration of Guadeloupe’s culinary heritage. Local delicacies, such as artisanal fruit jellies and traditional coconut confections, will offer a flavorful taste of the islands, making the experience unforgettable for all who stop by.

“The U.S. market remains one of the most strategic and promising for the Guadeloupe Islands,
particularly the East Coast, where travelers have a strong appetite for authentic, off-the-beaten-path
destinations,” said Rodrigue SOLITUDE, Acting General Director of the Guadeloupe Islands Tourism
Board. “This market aligns perfectly with our target audience, which values rich cultural experiences,
natural beauty, and a unique sense of place. Over the past few years, we have seen a consistent
increase in interest and arrivals from American travelers, confirming that Guadeloupe is resonating as
a destination of choice.”

The Guadeloupe Islands, with their crystal-clear turquoise waters, vibrant rainforests, and unique fusion of French and Creole influences, provide a Caribbean experience like no other. Visitors at the New York Travel & Adventure Show are encouraged to visit the Guadeloupe Islands booth (#449) to spark their wanderlust, discover exciting travel opportunities, and begin planning their dream getaway.
