The Divine Group unveils the Inn at Altamont, a luxury hotel on Paris Mountain offering premium amenities, scenic views, and a resort-style experience.

Greenville’s Paris Mountain to Welcome Luxurious Inn at Altamont, a Landmark Hotel by The Divine Group

Greenville-based real estate investment and development firm, The Divine Group, has announced its latest hospitality venture—the Inn at Altamont, a sprawling 150,000-square-foot luxury hotel set to redefine mountain retreats in the region. Nestled off Altamont Road, this high-end property will cater to both travelers and locals with premium amenities and an immersive experience in nature.

A Blend of Elegance and Comfort

With approximately 150 guest rooms, the Inn at Altamont will offer a refined stay experience, with rates averaging around $275 per night. Guests can indulge in top-tier amenities, including a resort-style pool, full-service spa, and in-room dining. A major highlight will be its farm-to-table rooftop restaurant and bar, providing stunning panoramic views. The property will also feature an expansive 750-person banquet hall and an outdoor event lawn, making it an ideal venue for weddings, corporate events, and special celebrations.

Architectural Vision: Merging Rustic Charm with Modern Luxury

Designed to blend seamlessly with the mountain landscape, the Inn at Altamont will showcase an architectural style that fuses contemporary sophistication with rustic elements. The four-story hotel will sit atop Paris Mountain, offering breathtaking vistas of northern Greenville County and a tranquil escape just minutes from the city’s heart.

From Concept to Reality: How The Divine Group Seized the Opportunity

The idea for the Inn at Altamont began in 2022 when The Divine Group was approached about acquiring two parcels of land totaling approximately 40 acres along Altamont Road. Initially, the site was considered for multifamily housing development, but after conducting a market feasibility study, the company found that Greenville’s hotel demand was expected to grow by 2.1% annually. Recognizing an opportunity for a premier hospitality project, The Divine Group purchased the land in January 2024 and began laying the groundwork for a luxury resort-style hotel—their first foray into the hospitality sector.

Moving Forward: Rezoning and City Partnerships

The hotel site is currently located within Greenville County, but The Divine Group is working to have it annexed into the city of Travelers Rest. Over the past several months, the company has been drafting a development agreement and zoning proposal, with plans to submit the annexation request in March 2025.

The proposed zoning change will designate the land as a planned development, allowing for streamlined approval of building materials, architectural designs, and infrastructure details. Per Travelers Rest’s zoning regulations, the plan will undergo a public hearing, followed by Planning Commission review and a City Council vote.

As part of the project’s community-focused approach, The Divine Group has pledged to donate 20 acres of land on Paris Mountain to the city for public recreational use. This space will feature hiking and biking trails, gathering areas, and other outdoor amenities, further enhancing the area’s appeal.

Additionally, the company has proposed a 2% voluntary accommodation fee for hotel stays and event rentals. The revenue generated from this initiative will be allocated exclusively for public park infrastructure and improvements, reinforcing The Divine Group’s commitment to sustainable development.

Project Timeline & Community Engagement

Currently in the design phase, the Inn at Altamont is being developed in collaboration with DLW Architects, a Florida-based firm specializing in high-end hospitality projects, and Arbor Land Design, a Greenville-based land planning and site design company.

To foster community engagement, The Divine Group will host a public information session on Monday, February 10, at Shaw Hall, Furman University, beginning at 6 p.m. Representatives from The Divine Group, Marriott International, DLW Architects, and Arbor Land Design will be present to discuss the project’s vision and answer questions.

With an anticipated approval of annexation and rezoning by June 2025, the team will move forward with interior design planning and permitting, marking the next step toward bringing the Inn at Altamont to life.
