Seajets’ Goddess of the Night sets sail from Elefsis to Astakos after refurbishment, marking the beginning of Neonyx Cruises’ exciting 2025 launch with new itineraries.
The Goddess of the Night recently departed Elefsis, where it had been docked for several months, and sailed to a new Greek port. Previously operated by Costa Cruises as the Costa Magica, the 2004-built ship was acquired by Greece-based ferry operator Seajets in early 2023.
For the first time since July 2024, the ship left Elefsis and docked in Astakos, alongside another Seajets-owned vessel, the Queen of the Oceans. After a year of being laid up, the Goddess of the Night underwent a refurbishment to become the flagship vessel for Seajets’ new cruise brand, Neonyx Cruises.
Neonyx Cruises, which aims to offer a unique experience focused on nightlife, music, and parties, had originally planned to launch operations in the Greek Islands and Turkey in the summer of 2024. However, due to delays in the ship’s refurbishment, the launch has been postponed to 2025. As a result, the ship remained docked in Elefsis last year.
The company cited unforeseen delays in the refurbishment process as the reason for the service delay. Although plans to welcome passengers in advance of the summer 2025 season were initially set, current plans remain unclear.
The Goddess of the Night, built by Fincantieri in Italy, is part of the Carnival Corporation’s Destiny class. As a sister ship to the 2003-built Costa Fortuna, the 2,700-guest ship spent over 15 years with Costa Cruises before being sold to Seajets.
In addition to the Goddess of the Night, Seajets has acquired seven other cruise ships since mid-2020. While three vessels were resold to other operators or sent to shipbreaking yards, Seajets still owns four ships: the former Oceana, the former Majesty of the Seas, the former Costa Magica, and the former Veendam. These ships are docked at various locations in Greece.
