On the 24th of September, 2024, the Paris Grand Palais art gallery in France became the prestigious venue for the third installation of the “Panda’s World” exhibition, which captures the essence of giant pandas through photography. The event commenced with a vibrant and festive opening ceremony, attended by a host of notable figures from various sectors including politics, business, and the arts, both from China and France. Notably, France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron extended her best wishes for the success of the exhibition through a heartfelt congratulatory message.

The ribbon-cutting was performed by a group of dignitaries including Pubu Dunzhu, the Vice Governor of Sichuan Province; Lu Shaye, the Chinese Ambassador to France; Emmanuel Mandon, a Deputy of the French National Assembly and a member of the France-China Friendship Group; and Ninon Vernay, a young French girl battling cystic fibrosis. Ninon’s dream to visit pandas in Chengdu was realized last year thanks to the support of Franco-Chinese charitable organizations, symbolizing her ongoing connection with these beloved animals.

The cultural exchange featured Zhou Mengqi, a distinguished panda photographer and the global ambassador of panda culture, who shared enthralling narratives about pandas and his experiences capturing their lives on camera. His stories significantly enhanced the audience’s appreciation for these charming creatures.

Visitors not only admired the extensive collection of panda photographs but also engaged in panda-themed do-it-yourself activities, deepening their insight into Chinese cultural traditions.

Serving as ambassadors of peace and symbols of the enduring friendship between China and France, pandas play a pivotal role in this cultural showcase. The exhibition, commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France, aims to bolster the bonds of friendship through the universal language of visual art. Continuing its international journey, the exhibition is set to promote the distinct allure of pandas and Chinese culture globally, with a special emphasis on the Sichuan province.
