Germany welcomes IHG’s luxury Kimpton and midscale Garner brands this year, with Candlewood Suites debuting in 2025, as IHG expands across Northern Europe.

Germany is preparing to welcome two new brands from the IHG portfolio: the luxury boutique Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and the midscale conversion brand Garner, both set to launch later this year. Additionally, IHG’s extended stay brand, Candlewood Suites, will debut in early 2025. In other parts of Northern Europe, Hungary recently introduced its first Kimpton and Vignette Collection hotels, while IHG’s premium voco hotels brand made its debut in Sweden and signed a new property in Poland.

IHG’s expansion continues with pipeline projects under the Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Express, and Holiday Inn brands in cities like Krakow, Munich, and Lublin. This growth is highlighted by 30 new Holiday Inn – the niu brand collaborations with NOVUM Hospitality since the signing of their long-term agreement in April 2024.

Germany Highlights:

Holiday Inn Express Munich Airport-Erding (under development): With 118 rooms, this pet-friendly hotel, signed with HR Group, will feature conference spaces and a bar stocked with local brews, set to open in late 2024.

Kimpton Frankfurt Main (under development): This will be Germany’s first Kimpton hotel, opening late 2024 with 155 rooms, event spaces, restaurants, bars, and a gym, as part of the FOUR development reshaping Frankfurt’s skyline.

Holiday Inn – the niu (open and under development): With 30 properties opened since April 2024, the Holiday Inn – the niu collaboration is found in cities like Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and Bremen, with more properties signed.

Garner (under development): Following the April 2024 agreement with NOVUM Hospitality, 56 Garner hotels are set to open starting in late 2024.

Candlewood Suites (under development): 11 properties will be converted from NOVUM’s acora Living the City brand, opening from early 2025.

Poland Highlights:

Holiday Inn Express Lublin (under development): Scheduled to open late 2024, this 150-room hotel will be IHG’s first in Lublin, converted from an independent property.

voco Katowice (under development): This 167-room hotel marks voco’s entry into Poland, opening in 2025, near Katowice’s International Congress Centre.

Hotel Indigo Krakow – Wawel Castle (under development): This boutique property will feature 74 rooms and is set to open in 2025, near the historic Wawel Royal Castle.

Hungary Highlights:

Kimpton BEM Budapest (now open): Opened in July 2024, this hotel features 127 rooms and celebrates Hungarian culture with a modern twist.

Verno House Budapest, Vignette Collection (now open): A boutique retreat with 48 rooms, Michelin-recommended dining, and a dedicated wellness department, opened in August 2024.

voco Szekesfehervar (under development): Scheduled for 2025, this will be Hungary’s first voco hotel outside Budapest, with 95 rooms.

Sweden Highlight:

voco Stockholm – Kista (now open): Opened in September 2024, this 201-room hotel is located in Stockholm’s tech hub and caters to business and leisure travelers.

Belgium Highlight:

Holiday Inn Express Brussels – Airport (now open): Recently opened with 208 rooms, this hotel offers convenient access to Brussels’ airport and NATO Headquarters.

IHG now operates 197 hotels across 13 countries in Northern Europe, with an additional 169 properties under development. These include brands like Six Senses, Regent, InterContinental, Kimpton, voco, and Holiday Inn.
