Gaggan in Bangkok has been crowned The Best Restaurant in Asia at the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 live awards ceremony, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. This prestigious accolade was determined by the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a respected and gender-balanced group of over 350 culinary experts. The 2025 list features restaurants from 16 cities, with seven exciting new entries.
Gaggan Anand, the renowned chef and owner of Gaggan, is celebrated for his unique fusion of progressive Indian cuisine and influences from Japan, France, and Thailand. After several evolutions of his Bangkok-based restaurant—previously honored as The Best Restaurant in Asia four times—Anand launched a reimagined version of his concept at a new location in late 2019. In 2023, Gaggan made a strong return to the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list and has continued to rise to the top.
This year, Hong Kong also shines with seven establishments, with The Chairman leading at No.2, followed closely by Wing at No.3.
William Drew, Director of Content at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, says: “This year’s ranking presents a remarkable tapestry of dining establishments across 16 cities, with seven new entries showcasing the exceptional talent and innovative spirit that define Asia’s culinary landscape. Heartfelt congratulations to all the featured restaurants, particularly chef Gaggan Anand and his team at Gaggan, who have impressively secured the title of The Best Restaurant in Asia once again.”
