Frontier Airlines is making a significant expansion at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), announcing nine new routes and a 40% increase in departures starting May-June 2025. This move strengthens the airline’s low-cost travel options for both domestic and international travelers.

With this expansion, Frontier will now serve 52 destinations from Atlanta, second only to Delta Air Lines, which maintains a dominant presence at ATL.

New Domestic & International Routes

Frontier’s new domestic routes from Atlanta include:

  • Oklahoma City, OK
  • Kansas City, MO
  • St. Louis, MO
  • Fort Myers, FL
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Palm Beach, FL
  • Columbus, OH

These routes will operate two to four times per week.

On the international front, Frontier will launch:

  • Thrice-weekly flights to San Pedro Sula, Honduras
  • Weekly flights to Aruba

Each of these new routes will begin service between May 22 and June 13, 2025, with plans for year-round operation.

Replacing Southwest Airlines & Competing with Delta

Frontier’s expansion follows Southwest Airlines’ decision to scale back its Atlanta service in 2025, removing routes to Fort Myers, Palm Beach, Oklahoma City, and Jacksonville. Frontier is stepping in to fill that void, providing budget-friendly alternatives for Atlanta travelers.

However, the airline will face stiff competition against Delta Air Lines on all nine new routes. Additionally:

  • Frontier will compete with Southwest and Spirit on Atlanta-Columbus
  • Southwest remains a competitor on the Kansas City and St. Louis routes

Frontier’s ultra-low-cost model will give travelers additional budget-friendly choices in a market historically dominated by legacy carriers.

What This Means for Travelers

With Frontier’s expansion, Atlanta passengers can expect:

✅ More affordable nonstop flight options
✅ Greater domestic and international connectivity
✅ Increased competition leading to potential fare reductions

Travelers can book these new routes now, with fares expected to be competitive compared to legacy carriers.

Frontier’s expansion at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport reinforces Atlanta’s position as a major U.S. aviation hub, offering more flight choices and low-cost travel options in 2025 and beyond.
