“The cooperation with Somon Air fits seamlessly into our strategy of continuously expanding Hahn Airport’s route network and opening up new markets,” says Ruediger Franke, Managing Director of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Abdulkosim Valiev, CEO of Somon Air, adds: “This strategic alliance is an important step for Somon Air to expand its presence in Germany.”

Somon Air, founded in 2008, has emerged as a significant player in the Central Asian aviation industry. This extensive network supports not only tourism but also business and cultural exchanges, contributing to the strengthening of Tajikistan’s international ties. With its growing presence and expanding routes, Somon Air continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity.

Located in the heart of Europe, Hahn Airport has firmly established itself as a thriving international commercial hub. In 2024, the airport saw a significant 12% increase in passenger traffic, with approximately 1.9 million travelers passing through its gates. This rise reflects the growing demand for the airport’s services and its strategic position in the European travel landscape. Furthermore, the first quarter of 2025 witnessed an impressive 30% growth, with over 440,000 passengers recorded during this period, showcasing the airport’s continued upward trajectory.

The surge in passenger traffic also highlights Hahn Airport’s increasing popularity as a key travel gateway in Germany. Its state-of-the-art facilities and convenient connections to both domestic and international destinations have made it a preferred choice for airlines and passengers alike. As one of the busiest airports in the region, Hahn’s ability to handle a diverse range of air traffic positions it as a crucial player in Europe’s aviation network, attracting both low-cost carriers and premium airlines.

In addition to its booming passenger traffic, Hahn Airport continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier cargo hub. With decades of experience in handling air freight, the airport’s cargo operations are critical to its overall success. In 2024, Hahn managed around 22,000 tons of air freight, marking an 8% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is a testament to the airport’s ability to accommodate rising demand and its role in facilitating the efficient movement of goods across Europe.

The airport’s strategic location offers unmatched accessibility to key European markets, making it an ideal gateway for cargo transportation. With a 24-hour operating permit, Hahn Airport is one of the few German airports that can facilitate round-the-clock operations, further enhancing its cargo handling capabilities. Its proximity to major neighboring countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, and France enables swift and efficient freight transport, reinforcing Hahn’s position as a vital logistics center in the European Union.
