Eurostar has joined forces with SkyTeam, a major airline alliance, by signing a memorandum of understanding that facilitates seamless intermodal travel involving both air and rail components for countless passengers. This collaboration marks Eurostar as the inaugural non-airline member of SkyTeam, allowing travelers to book journeys that merge long- and medium-distance flights with eco-friendly train routes under a unified reservation system while still reaping SkyTeam’s perks.

This partnership expands Eurostar’s reach, enabling extensive multi-city tours across the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Travelers can now seamlessly transition from flights arriving at prominent SkyTeam hubs in France, the Netherlands, and the UK to Eurostar’s extensive railway network, promoting greener multi-city travel across Europe. Presently, about 13% of Eurostar’s passengers are long-distance flyers who land at major hubs like Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris-CDG, and London Heathrow, before proceeding to their Eurostar connections.

Over the next few months, Eurostar and SkyTeam will enhance the integration of air and rail travel, improving the overall travel experience by linking these two modes of transport. The full implementation of this enhanced travel experience is anticipated to roll out in the first half of 2025.

Additionally, Eurostar and KLM are advancing their combined air-rail service between Amsterdam and Brussels, which has already significantly decreased the number of flights between the two cities.
