Emirates has partnered with Parsys Telemedicine to introduce advanced equipment that brings high-quality, fast medical care to the skies. With over USD2.4 million invested in co-designing this innovative system, Emirates is set to equip 300 aircraft with the new technology, empowering its highly trained cabin crew to provide top-tier medical assistance during flights.

Enhanced In-Flight Care

The cutting-edge system includes the Parsys Telemedicine Kit and Parsys Cloud—a portable, integrated solution that allows cabin crew to collect vital health data and securely transmit it to Emirates’ Ground Medical Support team. Accessible 24/7 at Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai, the medical team offers real-time guidance to ensure that passengers receive prompt and informed care. The kit features devices like a pulse oximeter, thermometer, blood pressure monitor, glucometer, and a 12-lead ECG, enabling seamless data transmission through Bluetooth to the Medcapture© tablet.

With an easy-to-use interface, the Medcapture© device aligns perfectly with Emirates’ medical procedures, allowing cabin crew to communicate in real time with ground-based doctors. This technology supports fast, accurate assessment of medical situations, ensuring passengers experience a higher level of care while in flight.

Proven Success

The new system is already operational on multiple Emirates aircraft and has been instrumental in delivering excellent care during various medical situations. For example, on a recent flight to Lyon, France, an elderly passenger experienced a cardiovascular issue. Using the Parsys Medcapture© device, cabin crew efficiently transmitted the passenger’s vital signs to the Ground Medical Support team. Through real-time communication and expert guidance, the situation was expertly managed, resulting in positive outcomes for the passenger.

World-Class Training for Cabin Crew

To ensure the highest level of medical readiness, Emirates’ cabin crew complete an eight-week training program that covers everything from safety and hospitality to advanced medical response. This comprehensive training includes CPR, AED usage, emergency management techniques, and the use of the Parsys kit. Crew members also undergo annual refresher courses, practical sessions, and flight simulation exercises to keep their skills sharp and their knowledge current.

In addition to technical expertise, crew members receive training in empathy, clear communication, and maintaining a calm, supportive presence during medical events. Emirates also provides ongoing mental health and wellbeing support, ensuring that the crew feels confident and prepared to handle any situation.

A Bright Future for In-Flight Medical Care

This partnership between Emirates and Parsys Telemedicine is setting a new standard for in-flight medical services. By combining state-of-the-art equipment with exceptional training, Emirates is enhancing passenger well-being and delivering next-generation care above the clouds.
